School’s out for summer! During this last month of class, we spent time focusing on preparing our preschool students for the big jump to Pre-Kindergarten! Walking in a line, independent problem solving, making their cots, self-care routines and respecting personal space are among some of the skills our children learned and are encouraged to practice throughout the summer so they may enter Pre-K with confidence and sense of independence.
Here are 5 other tips to aid your child during summer break and the back-to-school transition:
Try to stick to the daily school routine as much as possible, especially when scheduling naps and your child’s sleep schedule.
Show pictures of friends and read books related to school a few times a week.
Ask questions and make charts of what they think Pre-K will be like.
Start talking about going back to school and any possible nerves they may have as the time approaches.
